249 SEMBAWANG ROAD
Singapore 758352

The Club began as a quiet, small and unobtrusive 9-hole golf course built by the British marines. It was then known as Sembawang Golf Club. The course was tucked away in Singapore's catchment area close to Seletar Reservoir. Consequently, the course was naturally carved out from the jungles and rubber estates using the terrain to its fullest advantage.

The Club remained under the British until their withdrawal from Singapore when it was handed over to the New Zealand Forces. From 1968 through to 1976, the Club continued to make improvements to the course.

With the over-increasing presence of SAF members, it was inevitable that the SAF should rightfully run the Club one day. That it did in 1985 with the then CGS Maj-Gen Winston Choo as the first Club President; BG Boey Tak Hap as the first SAF Chairman and LTC Clarence Tan as the first SAF Club Captain.

The Club has since seen tremendous changes not only to the golf course but also, a brand new two-storey clubhouse was constructed and officially opened by the then Defence Minister, Dr Lee Boon Yang, on 17 December 1994. Major renovations to the course including the installation of a fairway irrigation system were completed in 1996.

Sembawang Country Club was ranked as one of the Top Ten courses in Singapore by ‘Golf Malaysia’ in 1997.

Together with new renovations to the existing clubhouse and more developments at SCC, members can certainly enjoy this valuable asset of Singapore’s golfing fraternity.
